Best Buy is celebrating Pokémon’s 30th anniversary with a special FREE Trade & Play event at select Best Buy stores on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 12:00 PM–2:00 PM local time.
Best Buy says the event will take place at 225 participating stores nationwide.
What Can You Get for FREE?
According to Best Buy, giveaways at the event will include:
- FREE 3-card Pokémon fun packs
- FREE Bandai Pikachu Model Kits
- FREE branded folders
- Opportunities to play and trade Pokémon cards with other fans
- Event leaders available to help newcomers learn how to play
No purchase is necessary. All giveaway items are available while supplies last.
Pokémon Collectors May Want to Check This Out Too!
Best Buy is promoting this as a family-friendly event where kids and their friends can learn about the Pokémon Trading Card Game, play and trade cards.
However, Pokémon has also become a major collecting hobby, so Pokémon and trading-card collectors may want to have this event on their radar as well.
Best Buy does not publish a numerical age restriction for the event, but its promotional page specifically describes the free trading kit in connection with bringing kids and their friends.
