Florida Sales Tax Holidays Help Families Save Big in 2026
If you’re looking for ways to stretch your budget, Florida’s upcoming sales tax holidays are an excellent opportunity to save money on everyday purchases. From back-to-school shopping to outdoor recreation, these tax-free events can help reduce costs on a wide range of eligible items.
Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday
Florida’s annual Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday returns with a revised schedule designed to better match the start of the school year. This year’s tax-free shopping period runs from July 20 through August 20, giving parents and students an entire month to prepare before classes begin.
During the sales tax holiday, qualifying purchases include:
- Clothing, shoes, and backpacks priced at $100 or less per item
- School supplies costing $50 or less per item
- Learning aids priced at $30 or less per item
- Personal computers and tablets priced at $1,500 or less
It’s a great opportunity to save on many of the essentials students need for the upcoming school year.
Hunting, Fishing & Camping Sales Tax Holiday
Outdoor enthusiasts will also have plenty to celebrate. To commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, Florida is offering an extended Hunting, Fishing, and Camping Sales Tax Holiday from September 1 through December 31.
Eligible tax-free purchases include a variety of outdoor recreation items, such as tents, sleeping bags, fishing equipment, and other qualifying gear, making it easier to enjoy Florida’s great outdoors while saving money.
Additional Tax Savings
Florida shoppers can also benefit from other tax-saving measures currently in effect:
- 20-pound (or smaller) propane tanks are now permanently exempt from Florida sales tax.
- Homeowners may be eligible for a sales tax refund (up to $500 per eligible residential property) on qualifying impact-resistant windows and doors purchased between July 1, 2026, and June 30, 2029.
Before you shop, it’s always a good idea to review the complete list of eligible products, exclusions, and program details on the Florida Department of Revenue’s website.
Taking advantage of Florida’s sales tax holidays is one of the easiest ways to save on purchases you may already be planning to make. Whether you’re preparing for a new school year, stocking up for camping trips, or making home improvements, these tax-free periods can add up to meaningful savings.
